Ekru by Ekta Jaipuria and Ruchira Kandhari didn’t venture far for inspiration for their autumn/winter 2013 collection. They took it from their birth country India. It’s food, language, dance, music and architecture that’s provided design fodder. Truly an Indian Kaleidoscope is what they would like to title it as. Taking advantage of our rich textile heritage – the line features clothes Matka from Bihar, Chanderi from MP, chiffons and woven yardages along with borders from Benaras.
Structured jackets, kaalidars and palazzo pants will be the mainstay of the collection. I love when traditional ensembles get a contemporary twist. It becomes young and fresh and targets a younger demographic.
