Sure, I do think being a woman rocks. Given a chance I’d want to be a woman in any lifetime except, in our country, the very first step is fraught with obstacles and challenges. And in this mileu of uncertainty and questions about safety for women, more power to the girl child born in our country- that we learn to celebrate nurture and educate the child women.
When we speak equality, it is about equality of opportunity and treatment with mutual understanding. Women entrepreneurs, for instance, have so many obstacles to cross often in their own families first and at every step along the way. And so it was that we decided that three successful women entrepreneurs host an evening with the theme of celebration for women. Me, Shagun and Sounia.
Not only did all the gorgeous women lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, public relations executives, models and actors throng the beautiful cottage in Khar which we chose as the venue but it was the men who spoke most vociferously about the power, beauty, strength, style and substance of the Indian Women.
Salads, teas, wine and champagne alongside some sensuous couture formed the backdrop to the evening. It was Women’s Day and I’d hosted the Champagne High Tea with couture, music & beautiful people to celebrate Indian woman- the champagne evening had the unique feel of a film premier red carpet, everyone sparkled and looked stunning, friends kept sashaying in and made the night special by being part of it!
‘Grape To Glass’ who is responsible for bringing Ridel to India and my lovely friend Shagun had presented a stunning collection of Ridel Decanters and nearly sculptural Ridel glasses at the venue along with delectable wines for the crème da la crème of the city to sip from. Sounia unveiled her Spring Summer Resort collection.
Guests just kept pouring in through the evening, enjoying conversation, wine and the delectable buffet. It is being touted as one of the best do’s this side of town, akin to a grand red carpet premier, with a cross section of societies darlings, film persona, artists, sculptors, corporate head honcho’s, fashion designers, celeb doctors, lawyers, singers, music composers and the quintessential page three diva’s.
The guest list included, Dalip Tahil, Rohit Roy, Sudhanshu Pande, Gautam Kapoor, Prahlad Kakar, Sharon Prabhakar, Sucheta Sharma, Shriya Kishore, Anjhula Singh Bais, Shamita Singha, Deepti Gujral, Priya Kataria Puri, Geetu Hinduja, Sculptor Jehangir Jani, Rucha Gujarati, Shama Sikender, Mamta Raja, Sudeepa Singh, Preeti Hiranandani, Actress Himanshi Choudhry, Pooja Hegde, Noshir Talati, Lubna Adam, Divya Pallat, Sandeep Soparkar, Lisa & Kamal Sadanah, Poppy Jabbal, Amy Billimoria, Anu Ranjan, Warda Nadiadwalla, Kunika Singh, Sheeba Akashdeep Saigal, Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai, Dr Poornima Mahatre, Mrunalini Deshmukh, Kiran Bawa, Yasmin Morani, Lucky Morani, Harmeet & Manmeet of the ‘Meet Brothers’ fame, Television stars Sayantani Ghose, Raymon Seth, Gunjan, Kjyati Keswani, Anju Mahendroo, Freddy Daruwala.
It was touted one on Bombay’s most fun evenings as people stayed until midnight, and catching up under the fairy lit palm trees sipping wine and meeting each other.
