Jessica Chastain can be considered Hollywood’s current “It Girl,” but it wasn’t an easy road to fame. After a rocky start and some unreleased films, Jessica finally hit it big, and now she’s one actress with a lot of work on her plate. Anupama Chopra caught up with her on the Oscar red carpet and asked her about her journey to success – here’s an excerpt!Anupama Chopra: For many years, there was talk of the Chastain curse because none of your films would release. And now, you’ve been nominated many times over. Is success sweeter when it comes after so much struggle?
Jessica Chastain: I think so. Every single second of every day, I’m filled with gratitude and thankfulness. There is a myth of the overnight success. So many of us think you could just show up on a bus in Hollywood and someone will see you as you exit the bus station and go, ‘You’re a star!’. It definitely didn’t happen like that with me. It was a lot of work. And for most people I know, it’s a lot of work. So, when you finally feel like ‘Oh my gosh! I’ve finally found my place in the industry’, it is the sweetest, sweetest feeling.
Anupama Chopra: You said in an interview, that most little girls think of their wedding dress but you would always think of your Oscar dress. So, who’re you wearing?Jessica Chastain: Armani Privé and Harry Winston jewellery from the 1960s.Watch “The Front Row with Anupama Chopra” today at 8:30 pm on Star World for highlights from the Oscars red carpet, a quick take with Chitrangda Singh and reviews of I, Me Aur Main and The Attacks of 26/11.
