It’s the season of Bollywood events, what with award shows taking place almost every weekend. And this weekend saw Salman Khan step in as a host for the Star Guild Awards, which was his first time ever hosting an awards function! And though he seems to have pulled off the show well and left everyone happy, it turns out that it was not all smooth sailing, especially not in the beginning – he later admitted to being nervous and making quite a few mistakes. Here’s what happened.

Mirror says that while interacting with the media a day later, Salman claimed that the audio device attached to his ears wasn’t working properly, which resulted in him not being able to get his cues on time. He recalled another such event in Delhi that took place just after the release of Maine Pyar Kiya, where, in the midst of his performance, he froze up and didn’t know what to do. Embarrassed, the actor left the stage then, and was comforted backstage by then-girlfriend Sangeeta Bijlani, who assured him that everything would be alright. At that time, he had decided not to do any live shows for a while – but fortunately, during this function, the actor was able to bounce back after a few stumbles, and it seems like the audience went home entertained. All’s well that ends well, yes?
What’s interesting is that, when interviewed on the red carpet prior to the show, the actor admitted that he was a tad nervous, since it was his first time hosting such a function. Salman said, “Everybody gets nervous when you do something for the first time, even I am nervous. I just thought… let’s try, how does it feel to host. It is a very difficult thing, you have to remember many things, listen properly to others and not get carried away.”
We’re looking forward to catching this on TV to see Salman’s debut as an awards anchor! Are you?
