Akshara, an NGO in Mumbai, organised an event on Valentine’s Day at the Bandra Amphitheatre for One Billion Rising, to raise awareness about women’s issues and violence against women, in particular. The event was open to the public.
A number of celebrities came out to support the movement and express their emotions towards the cause. While Farhan Akhtar recited a poem and sang two songs, Rahul Bose read out a message from writer Eve Ensler and actress Mita Vasisht recited passages from Kashmiri poems. And if that was not enough, the very talented children of Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Sophia College, put up some amazing song and dance performances as well.
