Yesterday, which was Valentine’s Day, Mumbai was one of the many cities across the world, bringing together one billion people to dance and rise to end violence against women.
Blue Frog, the well-known haven for live music, witnessed several well known artists and performers such as Ash Chandler, Zoya Akhtar, Manasi Scott, Poorna Jagannathan, Suchitra Pillai, Sandhya Mridul, DJ T2K and DJ Kini – all of whom came together to bring about a change in the manner women are perceived, thanks to One Billion Rising.
Speaking at the event, Manasi Scott said, “One billion rising is growing at lightning speed with activists in 197 countries around the world coming together through dancing to reject the cycle of violence, and shake the globe in solidarity and strength, demanding an end to the injustices suffered by more than one billion women!”
And in case you haven’t heard much about it, One Billion Rising is a global call to all to rise, demand and end the violence against women and girls
