Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Nautanki’ Birthday Plans!

Veteran director Ramesh Sippy celebrates his 60th birthday on January 23rd, and for that Rohan Sippy and Bhushan Kumar have hatched quite the plan! They’ll unveil the first look hoarding/poster of their upcoming film Nautanki Saala, and will get actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Kunal Roy Kapoor to enact a special scene. Any guesses which one?

They’ll be recreating the famous water tank scene from Sholay!

Rohan Sippy says, “This was actually Bhushan Kumar’s idea.  We thought that there couldn’t be a better way to kick off Nautanki Saala. We will celebrate dad’s birthday with the first promo launch since the title of the film is a line from Sholay.  Bhushan and I wanted to do something special for him on his birthday. In fact, when we told dad and he was glad as he started his career with Andaaz (1971) on his birthday as well.  It’s a lovely way to celebrate the special day and his years in cinema with a film related event which is his home turf.”
