In a terribly sad update, Twitter has been aflood with the news that former Channel [v] veejay, Sophiya Haque, has passed away in London. If you grew up in the 90’s – when Channel [v] had launched in India – Sophiya was among their star veejays and her show, Sophiya’s Choice, was one of the most watched and loved.
Media reports have it that she passed away at 1:30am in London after having suffered from cancer.
Apart from also acting in a number of plays and TV soaps like Coronation Street and Bombay Dreams, Sophiya was also part of a band called Akasa. They were best known in India for two of their songs – One Night In My life and Kamasutra.
