Just like my appetite for Pierre Hermé macarons, my love for Tom Ford knows no bounds. But, I’m not being biased when I say that no one can do red carpet dressing – for both the sexes − as classily and as flawlessly as him. Remember Gwyneth Paltrow’s Oscars’ gown from last year? Daniel Craig’s dinner suit at the Skyfall Royal premiere? Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux‘s from the LACMA 2012 Art + Film gala? I could actually go on. So no prizes for guessing then that at this year’s Golden Globes, the Tom Ford-dressed Julianne Moore and Leonardo DiCaprio walked away with all the style plaudits. Click through to marvel my this man’s genius!
Julianne Moore dropped a line to Mr Ford via e-mail saying she needed a dress for the Golden Globes, and – ta-da! – this is what he whipped up. This monochrome full-sleeved number trumped all the strapless, frothy, embellished concoctions seen at the red carpet that night. Sermon in simplicity, this.
I loved how the accessories – the Bulgari ‘Serpenti’ gold bracelet, diamond and gold statement earrings and the black Tom Ford box clutch − enhanced the gown.
While Leonardo DiCaprio stood tall amongst the march of the penguin suits at the Bevey Hilton Hotel thanks to the classic dinner suit. The two-button notch lapel number was neither flashy, nor was it trying to make a fashion statement – but just slick. And needless to mention, the measurements were just right. This is Tom Ford menswear − at its finest.
Agree with me, y’all?
