Awards season is upon us, and last night saw B-Town’s finest step out for the Zee Cine Awards 2013, which was interestingly held in Mumbai this year. The function is usually one big Bollywood party on foreign grounds such as Dubai, Macau, Singapore, etc – but since 2013 completes 100 years of Indian cinema, they decided to keep this Bollywood event on the homefront instead! We’ve got a ton of red carpet pix featuring your favourites – Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi with a heavily pregnant Priyanka Alva, newlyweds Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur (who were greeted with a dhol – even Ranbir joined in on the action!), Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Genelia Deshmukh, Sridevi, Gauri Shinde, Sonali Bendre, Esha Gupta, Ileana D’Cruz and many more, so be sure to check them out – and have a look at who took home the night’s top honours!
Ranbir walked away with a well-deserved Best Actor (Popular) for his performance in Barfi! – bet he’s happy, since he won the same award last year for Rockstar. Priyanka Chopra took home the Best Actress in the Popular category for Barfi! as well. Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan won the critic’s Best Actor award for Agneepath, which I think was among his best performances.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui took home the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Talaash, which was extremely well-deserved since he was fabulous in the film. He’s had a good year too with Kahaani and Gangs of Wasseypur.
Gauri Shinde won Best Debutante Director for English Vinglish, a film that I *absolutely* loved (couldn’t find a fault with it). I’m sure she’s thrilled about the achievement and here’s hoping that we see much more from her in the future; she’s definitely one to watch out for!
My favourite soundtrack of 2012 was Cocktail, and composer Pritam won the award for Best Music for the same film. I wouldn’t have minded if Barfi! took home Best Music as well, but even in that case the award would have stayed with Pritam!
For Kahaani, Sujoy Ghosh took home the award for the Best Kahaani Story 🙂 That was among my favourite films of 2012, so well-deserved, I’d say!
Who’s the arm candy, Ileana?!
What do you think – was this a good sign of what to come for Bollywood parties and events in 2013?
