I’m on the advisory board of The Indian Luxury Expo (TILE) a privilege I share with Arun Sharma (aviation), Farhan Azmi (hotelier), Jwala Gutta (badminton player), Kartheek Raju (TV 9 news), Lakshmi Manchu (actor), Nawabzada Saad Bin Jung (royal descendent), Nisha Jamwal (socialite/interior designer), Rahul Kapoor (Excedo Luxuria), Shilpa Reddy (designer), Sjiraz Gidwani (Iktara World) and Uzma Irfan (Prestige Group). So I flew to Hyderabad on Tuesday to check it out (and Instagram up a storm since I am now Android-enabled, yay!)
The coolest thing about the Indian Luxury Expo is that it brings together leading luxury brands across 20 lifestyle segments to an elite and discerning target audience. Hyderabad, as a result witnessed a plush, three-day affair that ate, slept and tweeted – luxury.
You can check out their website www.theindianluxuryexpo.com for all the deets, but here’s my trip in Instagrams and other pictures 🙂
Psst! Follow me on Instagram here.
This reminds me of another recent Indigo flight I was on (back from Delhi) where during the safety announcement the pilot said, “there are 50 ways to leave a lover but only 8 to leave this aircraft.” *lol* funny guy eh?
Ex-Kingfisher calendar-girl-turned-entrepreneur, Shilpa Reddy was my gracious host (I LOVED her collection of saris and jackets) and she showed me around and introduced me to all her Hyderabadi high society friends!
Isn’t her stuff gorgeous? Very holiday bling bling!
Her personal style was super cool too and everybody commented on her birdie necklace. You like? She picked it up at a flea market in Goa.
PS. Yay that her sister Sahitya Reddy reads my blog. Makes me happy whenever I meet someone who tells me that they do 🙂
They had everything from furniture and photo/art exhibits and jewellery (which I wasn’t allowed to photograph, sorry!) to toys for big boys (yachts, model aeroplanes, remote control cars, Harleys and a vintage Bentley!)
PS, did you know our boy Mike Melli is a piano legend? Oh ya, the chicks love it.
Also on display, Lakshmi Manchu’s signature unisex perfume called ICONOCLAST (which sold out immediately with a number of socialites now on the waiting list!)
One of the coolest displays for me was by an art gallery called Muse that houses the works of talented sculptor Jagdish. His life size aluminium art costs about 20 lakhs (roughly $36,000) a pop and come in a variety of moods, like the honeymooners or man walking his dog. Pretty cool I thought!
The other art that blew my mind were the powerful glass and ceramic paintings by Ram Indranil Kamath. Dude’s got mad skills and is deeply inspired by religious texts and figures. If you read the description that comes with all his art you’ll get goosebumps, guaranteed. FYI, the price of his painting range from 2-8 lakhs depending on the size.
This Shiva one below is definitely my favorite. Stunning stuff.
So all in all, quite an awesome trip! I’m told it’s going to get bigger and better every year so stay tuned! xoxo
