Cricketer Yuvraj Singh is fundraising for his cancer detection facility in Gurgaon, this festive season, and is reaching out to the crowd to join him in the effort by contributing any small amount they can. In return he is giving back signed merchandise like t-shirts, caps, gloves etc. to the contributors! So far, ninety-five people have already come forward and contributed Rs. 1.37 lacs. His target is Rupees Five Lakhs.
Says Yuvraj in his personal pledge message: “Not many of us know that cancer kills one person every minute and the count is growing rapidly. And these are official numbers. Millions die undetected. The best way to control cancer and these numbers is early detection. At youwecan, we have two clear objectives, one – to spread the awareness and clear the myths about cancer and two – to reach out to one and all through our affordable cancer detection centres and mobile detection vans. I urge you all to be responsible to yourselves and your loved ones. Get a cancer detection test done immediately and come forward and support those who can’t afford it. On 12.12.12 I celebrated my 1st birthday of my new life and I don’t want any gifts or flowers from you on this occasion. Instead, please donate and save lives on www.youwecan.com. All proceeds generated will be used for free/subsidized detections and also towards the setup of our 1st cancer detection centre in Gurgaon. It is a long, gruesome journey and I can’t do it alone. Together, you & we can fight cancer”.
