Last year Karl Lagerfeld sent out a collection inspired by the Maharajas and Maharanis of India for his Chanel Metiers d’Art show. This time around it was the Scottish countryside that proved to be the inspiration for his pre-fall 2013 show.
It made sense since this is the place where tartan and the kilt originates from. In fact, many believe that Coco Chanel’s affair with the Duke of Westminster inspired her to use the heavy Scottish fabric – tweed for iconic jackets.
The venue was the stunning Linlithgow Palace – birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots. Fitting isn’t it? Drivers transporting the press and guests to the venue had on Chanel after shave while Chanel blankets were provided under the seats in case the venue was too cold. It doesn’t get any more luxurious than that… does it?
