With the second edition of India Resort Fashion Week upon us, designers are busy getting their collections ready in time for the grand event.
Among those who has already got her fashion line in place is the young Shruti Sancheti from Nagpur. Her collection is inspired by Antalya on the Turkish Riviera.
Says Shruti, “Antalya is a popular destination in a glittering bay on the Mediterranean coast. It is a thriving modern city with a historic heart and cultural amalgamation of ancient histories from the mighty Romans to the evolved Greeks and the exotic Byzantines to the majestic Ottoman Turks. I am totally inspired by this pulsating town with quaint boutique hotels, narrow cobbled streets, charming harbor, stunning beaches with golden sands and deep blue sea along with a vibrant night life.”
Shruti’s collection consists of the Sufi influences in form of paisley spray prints and Turkish medallion embroidery, Byzantine architectural embroidery and Greek and Roman drapes.
Using a Persian and Turkish colour palette of azure blue, deep blue, coral, fresh red and majestic purple, Shruti’s silhouettes are draped and free flowing in form of short dresses, capes, maxi dress, halter dresses, pleated palazzos, cowl pants and bustiers.
According to Shruti, “The Antalya collection is meant for the sophisticated woman who believes less is more, one who is a global traveler, well read and luxuriates in purity of fabric and simplicity of composition. A lady who practices restraint, takes her holiday seriously and yet wear’s culture on her sleeves and is bit of a nomad trapped in the urban world.”
