Priscilla has been in the beauty industry for 15 years, trained with Toni & Guy, the Ask Academy and co-owns the June Tomkyns salons. She is now also a Fiama Di Wills Hair Expert. She created 6 signature looks for the Fiama Fab Hair Show and I asked her to tell you how you can do them all at home here! xoxo
It was coronation night for the crowning glory! The Fiama Di Wills Fabulous Hair Show, not a strand of hair out of place (ok, the stray strands were taken care of by the Fiama Di Wills Total Damage Control Serum) but still, to get two of Bengals reigning beauties Raima Sen and Rituparna Sengupta sashaying down the ramp looking like they were about to set it on fire was like a dream come true. Let me tell you about the 6 looks I created for fabulous & healthy hair.
Ballerina bun or the embellished updo.
For the girl that likes looking sophisticated without seeming prudish. I smoothed the front of the hair down with the Fiama Di Wills Total Damage Control serum and then twisted it into a low bun. I kept it very do-it-yourself but added the perfect party touch by pinning on an embellishment. The gorgeous model had thick heavily layered hair, not the easisiest kind to do a bun with, but the marvels of a serum, it can get the naughtiest strand to behave itself.
Style Secret: Nothing like a little sparkle!
The urban warrior or the sleek sophisticate.
For the multitasking woman, a style that’s simple yet classy. All it takes to go from boardroom to ballet is a little pumped up volume at the front.
Style Secret: Keep the sides sleeked, serumed or gelled cover that rubber band with a section of the hair moving over the top of it. Voila!
Grecian braids or the sex-kitten braid.
I think Komal Sood the designer enjoyed having her hair braided. I saw years slip off her face. One moment she was the uber stylish Komal and the next she was the little girl who was talking about her days in school. Braids do that to you. We gave her a lace braid and then worked it into a fishtail and before we knew it she was all Greek goddess-like with her off-shoulder white ensemble.
Style Secret: My mum June Tomkyns liked braiding my hair in the inverted French braid it was a school style staple!
Cat woman, the forever fringe!
The association for cat woman and the fringe happened because which other style has nine lives? The twist in this tail (no pun intended is that I had the fringe five shades lighter the rest of the hair was ironed to a silky slinky smoothness. Meoow.
Style Secret: I kept the bangs lighter because I didn’t want to hide the model’s stunning set of slanting peepers behind a dark fringe.
Hollywood Glam.
Raima Sen, I knew would carry this look off to an unapologetically glamorous crescendo. Her face has an ethereal mysterious elusive quality which so belies her down to earth nature. I tonged her hair, pin curled it and then before she walked on in that royal purple ensemble we undid the pins, brushed it out and then let her unleash her thousand watt smile! Set the fringe area in an S-wave to make it look authentic.
Style Secret: She was patient, you have to be. I mean tonging the hair and then pin curling it!
Neo Bohemian.
Rituparna Sengupta’s has a mane that lends itself to a lot of versatility. I wanted to capture her free spirit and informal charm so I achieved this look by first applying lots of Fiama Di Wills anti hair fall serum to protect her hair and then taking a double angled parting crimped the front entire crown area only which brought on a lot of cheers from the audience!
Style Secret: Crimping can be a double edged sword, bring the tool down on the hair too hard and and you will suddenly find the hair after the first crimp in your hands! Handle with care!
