The first Indian Breast Cancer Survivor’s Conference was held a few days ago at Hotel Four Points by Sheraton in Pune. It was organized by Breast Friends Pune and Women’s Cancer Initiative. Apart from discussions about medical advances in breast cancer treatment, the conference had equal emphasis upon creating awareness about breast cancer, and about the post treatment care required for breast cancer patients.
On the second day of the conference over 200 women participated in the Walk For Cause event, where actress Sagarika Ghatge from the film Chak De, lead the group of survivors, doctors, care givers and supporters on a walk from the Aga Khan Palace to the conference venue.
Cancer survivor and activist, Devieka Bhojwani assured everyone that this would be an annual event.
