Actor Riteish Deshmukh – best known for his comical roles – is in seventh heaven. His maiden production venture, Balak Palak, is all set to make a grand world premiere at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York this October, making it the first Marathi film to receive such strong international accolades.
Says Riteish in a media statement, “I’m very proud to be associated with this film. I’ve always believed that we could do more with regional cinema which is already doing such great work over the last few years. The script of the film has tremendous potential and the fact that it has been selected to premiere at SIAFF in New York proves that it is a story that appeals to people across regional boundaries and all age groups. The response we’ve received for the film has been extremely humbling and the entire team is very excited.”
Under his production banner, Mumbai Film Company, Balak Palak addresses the subject of sex education in a fun-filled way and guides today’s parents to communicate with their children. This, in fact, is the first Marathi film to be screened at The South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF), which is the largest film premiere destination for South Asian/Indian filmmakers in the United States.
Directed by Ravi Jadhav and co produced with Uttung Thakur, the film stars Kishor Kadam, Sai Tamhankar, Prathamesh Parab, Shashwati Pimplikar, Madan Devdhar, Bhagyashree Shankpal, Rohit Phalke, Subodh Bhave, Amruta Subhash, Avinash Narkar, Vishakha Subhedar, Anand Ingale, Satish Tare and Supriya Pathare.
