Many a time I have wondered if the heroes of Bollywood would really be considered heroes if there were no villains opposing them. Here’s a list of the iconic men and women in Bollywood who we love to hate 😉
1. Amrish Puri
Mogambo was the first villain that came to my mind while I was writing this. Everyone remembers his famous lines “Mogambo Khush Hua” and his black & gold getup from the movie Mr. India.
2. Amjad Khan
Gabbar Singh, without whom, Sholay wouldn’t have been the mega blockbuster that it is still considered to be today.
3. Gulshan Grover
His “BAD MAN” dialogue in Ram Lakhan became so popular that his fans fondly call him the “Bad Man of Bollywood”.
4. Prem Chopra
“Prem naam hai mera…Prem Chopra!” He played the role of the rapist in most of the movies during the 1970s and 1980s. His most famous movies include Bobby, Upkar, and Daag.
5. Pran
Pran played so many negative characters in Bollywood that he won the “Villain of the Millenium Award” at the Star Dust Awards Ceremony held in 2000.
6. Danny Denzongpa
His role as Bakhtawar in Hum, is still etched in our minds. Did you know: Danny Denzongpa was the first choice for the role of Gabbar in Sholay. But he couldn’t accept the role because he had committed to shooting for Dharmatma.
7. Anupam Kher
This critically acclaimed actor has been praised for his work in stage dramas, as well as his comedy roles in so many movies. But we’ll never forget that he was also the crazy scientist Dr. Dang in Karma, and the poor father of Aamir in Dil who was obsessed with money.
8. Shakti Kapoor
He originally started his career as a villain, and then later switched to comedy roles.
9. Lalita Pawar
She was often portrayed as the wicked saas in Bollywood movies who would create rifts between the hero and heroine.
10. Shashi Kala
She started off her career in Bollywood as a supporting actress and later assumed many roles as a vamp, mother-in-law or sister-in-law who plotted the downfall of others.
