After the world restoration premiere of Il caso Mattei, the party moved on to the Hotel Cipriani where the ‘Gucci Award for Women in Cinema’ was held. The award, in its second year, is an initiative by Gucci to recognize the outstanding artistic achievement by a woman in filmmaking. We’ve some pics, courtesy of Gucci – come, have a look 🙂
The nominees were:
– Colleen Atwood: costume designer, Snow White and the Huntsman
– Nadine Labaki: director, Where Do We Go Now?
– Brit Marling: actor, Another Earth
– Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy: director, Saving Face
– Thelma Schoonmaker: editor, Hugo
The jury was led by Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini, and consisted of: actress Zoë Saldana; director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino; Mary Schmidt Campbell, dean of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts; and film journalist, curator and the Venice International Film Festival’s US Programmer Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.

The award, presented by Salma Hayek-Pinault, went to Thelma Schoonmaker in recognition of her work as the editor of Hugo. Gucci will make a grant of $25,000 to the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts in Schoonmaker’s name.
Salma Hayek-Pinault wore a gorgeous Gucci one-of-a-kind black silk-georgette cap-sleeved gown with plunging v-neck detail and jet-and-silver embroidery from shoulder to waist. Diamond earrings, cocktail ring and black embroidered satin clutch completed her look.

Brit Marling wore a lovely Gucci one-of-a-kind silk jersey cream long-sleeved gown with plunging neckline and belt embellished with gold and silver crystals. Pale silver suede high-heeled evening sandals and a silver leather box clutch completed her look. Gotta say, I liked this look better than the one at The Iceman premiere.
Thelma Schoonmaker wore a Gucci Pre-Fall 2012 black and red floral printed chiffon blouse with black satin georgette long skirt. Black patent leather high heeled pumps and black satin embroidered clutch completed her look.

Charlotte Casiraghi wore a Gucci one-of-a-kind cobalt blue silk cady sleeveless gown with cutaway neckline and open back detail. She styled her look with black suede and patent high-heeled sandals and black stingray evening clutch. The gown had me with its colour; finally a look of Charlotte that I really, really liked!
Frida Giannini wore a Gucci Autumn/Winter’12 black silk double georgette plunging v-neck long-sleeved gown all over embroidered with a black on black degradé leopard print.
