Looking for a good movie marathon with your girlfriends? Check out my top 10 list of the most fashionable flicks out there, where clothes, not necessarily the script, make you want to watch it over and over again.
1) Sex and the City
The series may have been famous for it’s ground breaking approach to sex, but the film was purely about fashion. From Christian Louboutin shoes, to some gorgeous Halston dresses, stylist Patricia Field really outdid herself.
2) The Devil Wears Prada
Based on the book of the same name, the film is centered around the inner workings of a fashion magazine. Anne Hathaway‘s character fashionable makeover is definitely worth watching.
3)Marie Antoinette
When you have shoe God Manolo Blahnik personally making the shoes for the movie, you know there’s a fashion element involved. Elaborate costumes, pearls, and wide-brimmed hats all make an appearance here. A great fashionable period film.
4)Aisha
Probably the first Bollywood film that really paid attention to the costumes. From couture, to quirky labels like Manish Arora, stylist Pernia Qureshi gave each character a definite look that’s often overlooked in Indian cinema.
5) Annie Hall
Want a lesson in androgynous style? Take a cue from Diane Keaton‘s character from Annie Hall. Waist coats, ties and trousers – this style has been copied by the likes of Kate Moss. That counts for something right?
6) Confessions of a Shopaholic
Another Patricia Field styled film. I think some of us can completely identify with this film. It may have not done so well as SATC but her wardrobe was to die for!
7) Cocktail
The second most stylish Bollywood film in my books – Cocktail, styled by Vogue India Fashion Director Anaita Shroff Adajania. It wins my vote for Deepika Padukone‘s sexiest glam look. It was a sartorial treat for my eyes.
8) Clueless
My favourite by far… this film first introduced me to fashion. The plaid skirts, the designer backpacks *sigh*, not to forget the hats! LOVE this flick.
9) Breakfast at Tiffany’s
This is the movie that gave us the Little Black Dress; how can you not count its contribution to fashion. Not to mention, it made pearl necklaces extremely popular.
10) The Great Gatsby
Ok, so this movie isn’t technically out yet, but even the original Robert Redford one is worth a mention. The reboot is set to have costumes designed by Prada. I can’t wait for this one to hit theatres!
