Probably one of the most eagerly awaited films, Baz Luhrmann’s reboot of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby is set to get a whole lot fashionable. Miuccia Prada, the woman behind Prada and Miu Miu is set to collaborate and create costumes for the flick.
According to the September issue of Vogue US. Prada is dipping into her archive and reworking some outfits along with the film’s costume designer Catherine Martin. Miuccia is quoted to have said about the collaboration:
“I usually try not to literally reference periods in my work, because that’s not the way I think. But when I worked on the costumes, I realised how many pieces could become very 1920s with a little intervention and another point of view.”
I can’t wait to see how the costumes turn out. Everything she touches turns to gold (or in this case huge trends.) She’s responsible for us wearing banana printed dresses and brothel creepers. In fact this year’s MET Gala was held in her honour. That’s the power of this woman.
