I suppose no one is really surprised by this, but it seems like Salman Khan‘s Ek Tha Tiger is all set to make new records! We thoroughly enjoyed the film (read our review here), but eventually it all comes down to how much moolah the film is raking in. Here’s what the opening day reports suggest.
Opening day collections, while not fully compiled yet, is said to be around 32 crores, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The largest opening day collection to date is Agneepath, with 22 crores – which means Ek Tha Tiger will not only go on to take the record, it’ll take it by a huge margin. That’s not all – the film is also reporting 100% occupancy (my 9am showing was sold out), huge crowds outside cinemas (even stampedes in some cases), and decent reviews (ranging from average to good). And let’s not forget that Wednesday was only the opening day; this film has a long run yet at the box office – with Eid celebrations just around the corner, the pandemonium will begin again. It’s on track to become the fastest ever 100 crore film, and will – in all probability – break 3 Idiots‘ record of 202 crores. I guess it’s safe to say that the box office has found its new tiger!
