The GenNext show at Lakmé Fashion Week is always great fun to watch because the young designers display some of the most avant-garde creations and more often than not, their design sensibilities can shame a number of the so-called “established” designers who tend to play to the gallery.
One label to look out for at this season’s GenNext show is Threesome, started by Mehak Pruthi, Ankit Sharma and Kanika Seth.
Their Autumn Winter collection is inspired by the movie Avatar and focuses on creating a new self avatar, thus capitulating the ‘self’ into deeper recesses of perspective and looking at the world anew. The collection deeply portrays the preparation of the catastrophe the earth is close to, an amalgamation of super organic nature and science. Adopting a super edgy global look of future vision, the collection embodies and interacts with the wearer.
The combination and use of Indian fabrics in, western silhouettes, is one of the key features in their collection. “We are using hand woven net from Banaras, viscose lycra, modal, crepe and hints of EVA sheet,” reveal the young designers.
The collection will be modern in terms of the shapes and simplicity. Feminine, because of the details and textures and aggressive because of its extreme style lines.
