Bombay or Mumbai call it what you like, if you have been to Mumbai you’ll know what I mean. Marine drive, Juhu chowpatty, VT Station are the most famous places we associate with Mumbai, and of course the yummy street food – cutting chai and vada pav. Mumbai Suburbs are full of amazing hangouts, night clubs, street shopping and you tend to spot a lot of Bollywood celebrities, especially in Bandra. And I’m sure everyone’s either been to or heard of Juhu Chowpatty – the road side food, chaat, golas and colourful giant wheels. Here is a small photo journey across my favourite parts of the Burbs!
Bandra has been crowned The Queen of the Suburbs and has a wonderful coastline with eminent attractions like the Bandra-Worli Sea link and the Bandra fort. Bollywood movies like Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl have been shot in this part of the city.
Bandra is centrally located and well-connected with the rest of the city. You can move around in public transport like trains, auto rickshaws and BEST buses.
With a good blend of high fashion and street shopping, Bandra has it all – shoes, bags, clothes, junk jewelry. Linking road and Hill road (Elco market) are two places you cannot miss if you are in and around this area. You can be your own stylist without burning a hole in your pocket.
Shopping is usually accompanied by food and Bandra streets have Costa Coffee for caffeine enthusiasts, Elco for paani puri and KFC for snackers (ask Team MissMalini‘s Rashmi Daryanani and she will tell you what it means to be a KFC-oholic!) So the next time you are on Hill Road, make sure to visit Dugdha Sarita for fresh juices especially sugarcane juice!
Juhu is one of the most affluent areas of Mumbai and many Bollywood celebrities like The Bachchans and Hrithik Roshan live here. Juhu beach is the hot spot of the area and is well-known for street food, my favourite picks being – golas, bhelpuri, paani puri, bhutta (corn on the cob) and of course pav bhaji.
As you can see, mumbai is a city where everything is possible!
