Ranjit Rodricks met up with Soha Ali Khan Pataudi at Ryan International School in Malad, Mumbai, where she was invited to give a talk to the students on theme, Follow Your Heart. We asked her a few questions on her style and fashion trends in general and here’s what she told us:
What is Soha Ali Khan’s personal style? How do you like to dress?
Soha: I would like it to be that I dress to suit the occassion. But personally, I like a look which is a little bohemian, a little casual, a little relaxed because that’s who I am as a person. But these days I try to glam it up a bit because I’ve been told umpteen times by my parents and other people close to me to wear more makeup, dress more smartly.
Why is Bollywood and film fashion becoming so trendy these days, with the masses?
Soha: When it comes to things like fashion, films and the media play a very important role! A lot of actors become role models today and the media these days covers the fashion angle at most Bollywood events and you tend to be photographed more. So sometimes what you wear can become a fashion trend (good or bad)! Also, all around the world, what you wear (for example, Princess Kate), if you’re popular, automatically becomes a trend. What is considered fashionable will become popular and a lot of people will follow that – it’s like sort of a herd-mentality and then it becomes a trend.
Tell us about the outfit you are wearing today, especially your blouse with lots of hearts on it!
Soha: (Laughs) I wore this blouse deliberately because the event I’ve been asked to speak at today is called Follow Your Heart. I don’t know which label it is but I picked it up in London, recently! I’m also wearing Zara jeans and Jessica Simpson shoes!
