“What screws us up most in life is the picture in our head of how it is supposed to be” – Babita Malkani
Following this philosophy, designer Babita Malkani brings her tribe of urbane nomads to the catwalk at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week on August 4th at 5pm.
“Most of us city dwellers, who indulge in high fashion, are in some ways Urban Nomads, and this collection is designed and crafted around this concept,” says the designer. Much like its meaning, the nomadic character of this collection is witnessed more in its disposition rather than in the detail, the free flow and forms are recognition of the liberated spirit of the urban wanderer, and the details are an elegant blend of the different styles that combine to enhance and qualify this spirit in a rather flamboyant and glamorous manner.
A colour palette of the footloose tempers the boldness of the designs and brings forward a collection that’s totally wearable.
Through her extensive travels and experiences, Babita has crafted this collection, which is globally neutral. Freedom and care free attitudes are the two major inspirations behind this collection and the use of vibrant colours reflects the extravagant outfits.
“The nomadic layering represents a stylish appeal without any rigidity and structuring. Urbane Nomad-ism is an urban collection for every open minded woman who exudes compassion, charm, wit, strength and love,” she says!
