I believe no amount of space is ever enough for a woman’s wardrobe! I’m going to go off on a limb, and tell you my crazy ways of makingmy wardrobe”‘less crazy”. I keep it really systematic. The outfits are separated into categories such as, day, night, sports and beach wear. I keep my accessories in labelled boxes, so I can find them instantly. As far as possible, I try to get rid of one piece in my wardrobe, for every new addition. I’d be lying if I said I was successful in doing so every time! But atleast I try.
(A special thanks to MissMalini, who through my wardrobe, let me give you a sense of who I am, and my cousin Sumaiya who helped me with this fun photo shoot!) So here goes!
1) My Louis Vuitton bag. The Neverfull.
A gift I received, from my ever encouraging husband. Like the name, it truly is never full! It is practical and smart. I’ve jazzed it up with a blingy LV keychain, to make it more me! I love this bag because it weighs nothing, but it carries my house in it! I stuff it with my wallet, make-up, cookies and candies, the occasional milk bottle and iPad… the list never ends, and it still holds good. The neutral colour and contrasting inside, goes with everything.
2) Araiya Feather embroidered dress.
This dress is from my (Araiya) AW’ 2011 collection. I love the tribal feather embroidery and the leather tie-up. The wide neckline is flattering, and the silhouette quite slimming. Love the dangling tribal feathers!
P. S. For those who have heavy limbs, try a wide neck, knee length dress like this. These peek-a-boo slits cut down the frame and give an illusion of being quite thin.
3) My Red Seven Jeans
What I love about these jeans is that they are made of a new fabric called ultra stretch which is super soft and comfortable. They fit snug and add colour to my wardrobe. I sometimes team them with a slightly dressy top for the day, and then carry the same look into the night. I appreciate outfits that are multipurpose. It’s so important in today’s day and age!
4) River Island sandals
Well with a ‘knocked knee’ condition, I am strictly a no-heels person by day, so pretty chappals/ sandals are very important to me. These River Island sandals make any outfit look exciting. They match with everything, including the ‘jeans and tee’ look, that I love.
5) Carvela stilettos
Although I have to do have to do a couple of knee exercises before I get into these stilettos, it is always worth it. My personal style is quite laid back and sporty, but has a rock/gothic edge to it. That is why I love these heels. A bit S & M, but then what’s life without a little bit of fun ;)!
6) Miss Selfridge animal print dress
I have to say, I was not always a big fan of animal print clothing. But this season, has got me converted! I seem to love everything with animal print… one-shoulder blouses, long dresses and even the funky bottoms. This ‘resort’ summer dress is really nice for a brunch or for a fun evening out. The fact that it looks great even with sandals, is definitely an added advantage. As you can see, comfort is very important to me.
Well my next two accessories tie at no. 7…
7) Playboy belly ring & Bloomingdale black bracelet
This diamond belly ring is fun, blingy and so moi!
Another piece of accessory that is so me! A bit gothic, a bit blingy and very solid. Elements I always try to incorporate in my look.
8) D&G Heels
I think everybody needs a pair of shoes that can go with everything. My D&G heels do just that for me. I like the delicate silver, gold and copper straps. It looks great with all my soft, sheer fabrics and feminine dresses.
9) Antique gold polki diamond set
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend… And for good reason. I have never worn this uncut diamond polki set without being asked from where I got it. A secret I won’t tell 😉
10) Red BCBG Max Azria dress
This chic chiffon dress is elegant & fits incredibly. The inner corset makes me feel snug and secure. I like how the soft asymmetrical layers fall. The red colour clearly states the way I feel!
