Marilyn Monroe, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”
There’s something so enigmatic about Marilyn Monroe that even 50 years after her death I still can’t get enough of her. It seems I’m not the only one. Luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo is hosting a special exhibit at their headquarters in Florence titled Marilyn in her honour.
The exhibit features costumes, photographs, personal writings and of course; Ferragamo shoes that she wore while filming films such as Some Like It Hot and Niagara.
The Ferragamo-Monroe connection goes way back – with Monroe being one of his first few clients in Hollywood earning him the moniker “Shoemaker to the Stars.”
The exhibition on Marilyn Monroe will be held in Florence from June 2012 to January 2013 at Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, which in 1999 purchased 14 pairs of the actress’s shoes originally designed by the brand’s founder!
Marilyn Monroe “I don’t know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot!”
Seen in attendance on opening night were actresses
Rose Byrne
and
Anna Sophia Robb
.
Psst! Rose is an Australian actress and you’ve seen her as the genetics expert Moira MacTaggert in X-Men: First Class and Anna was the bubble-gum popping Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
If you’re a shoe addict, Marilyn Monroe fan or just love Hollywood memorabilia this is definitely an exhibition to check out. (Having a ticket to Florence is key) That being said can someone sponsor me please?
