If you’ve designed one of the most iconic wedding dresses in modern history, which happens to be for the Queen’s granddaughter-in-law, you know that honours are going to come your way.
Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton has received the most prestigious honour in Britain – the Order of the British Empire for her contribution to fashion. Burton took over the reigns at Alexander McQueen after the namesake designer’s tragic death. In April 2010 she became a household name for being Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer.
Burton isn’t the only person from fashion to receive an award. Emma Hill who is creative director behind Mulberry (the cult label that brings us the Alexa bag) will receive a a CBE (Commander of the British Empire). We’re glad that this duo has got their due recognition!
