Considering Bol Bachchan seems to be just one of your regular Bollywood masala comedies, Abhishek Bachchan‘s comment that this was the most difficult film of his career is rather odd (I’d expect him to give that title to a film like Guru or something). But, it turns out, he had gone onto the sets expecting to do one thing – and Rohit Shetty told him it was the wrong way! Here’s what Abhishek had to say:
Abhishek Bachchan says: “Rohit made me realise that there is a particular pitch and tone that is required for this kind of a film. We both agreed after much discussion that the approach I had brought in was incorrect. My style of comedy is more deadpan. My timing in comedy is slightly off and it suited a film like Dostana. However, for Bol Bachchan, a more physical kind of comedy was required. This, I learnt from Rohit.”
Even other than the physical comedy aspect, it’s Abhishek’s first double role, so he had to get into two characters. He now says he has much more respect for the classic comedians, because the amount of energy one needs to maintain to do such a film is unbelievable.
The film releases on July 6th, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see just how well he pulls of this comedy – and his double role!
