Day 8 of Cannes Festival was quite the jamboree with the premieres of On The Road and Kylie Minogue’s Holy Motors and the de GRISOGONO party. Which means plenty for fashion watchers to nibble on 😀 And oh, there was a random sighting of Sonam Kapoor 🙂
Kirsten Dunst’s simple belted column gown had me with its scrumptious colour! So yeah, she’s the best dressed of the day for me 😀 The Christian Dior gown was so simple yet so striking ‒ très chic!
Louis Vuitton bejewelled minaudière, Charlotte Olympia ‘Shelly’ pumps, earrings in pink gold, diamonds, and pink and yellow sapphires from Louis Vuitton’s L’Ame Du Voyage range and pink lips completed her winning red carpet look.
Milla Jovovich’s plunging gold custom Prada sequin-embellished gown she wore to the de GRISOGONO party was magnificent! Sergio Rossi clutch, Swarovski chain earrings and strappy sandals completed her über glam look. LOVE!
She wore another gorgeous gown by Prada to the On The Road premiere earlier in the evening. The embellished, asymmetric lilac duchess silk gown with an open back, thigh-high slit and a sweeping train was amaze, too! The pearl drop earrings, the diamond bracelet and the shimmering silver clutch nicely complimented the dress, no? Flawless, head-to-toe!
German actress Alexandra Maria Lara mesmerized too at the premiere of On The Road in a Elie Saab Autumn 2011 Couture gown. The champagne-coloured, fully embellished short-sleeved tulle gown accented at the waist with velvet floral appliqué was breathtaking! She kept the make-up and accessories minimal ‒ just a diamond bracelet ‒ to let the gown shine through.
Oh. My. GOLD. Kylie Minogue. WTF are you wearing? The floor-sweeping, long-sleeved Dolce & Gabbana gown dipped generously in gold sequins looks so cumbersome and… cheap. Now you can ask why I adored Diane’s gown from Day 5 which was not too dissimilar from this and not this. Well, that gown was a lot more imaginative: to begin with, the sequins were of a calmer shade of gold; it was strapless and had some nimble-fingered ruching going on, both of which toned down the gold element.
Kylie completed her look with some more gold: gold Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Peep Spikes’ and gold earrings. Bappi Lahiri needs to up his game.
Kristen Stewart went for a pale pink Balenciaga gown with green, silver and black embroidery, a plunging v-neckline and a thigh-high split to the premiere of her film On The Road. A gold small pendant, Balenciaga sandals and a Cartier ‘Juste un Clou’ bracelet completed her look. It was nice but I’d have liked something more fun and quirky from K-Stew.
Argentine actress/Mrs Michael Bublé, Luisana Lopilato, brightened up the red carpet with her strapless buttercup-yellow gown. Nothing showstopping about the gown but it was lovely still, no?
Irina Shayk‘s plunging pewter-sequined custom Emilio Pucci gown with a central split was same ol’ same ol’. Shimmering gold clutch, strappy sandals and some de GRISOGONO jewels completed her look. Like?
Heidi Klum also attended the de GRISOGONO party wearing a sequined gown with a plunging neckline. *yawn* I’m bored of such Roberto Cavalli looks. Agreed, the gown has got some nifty workmanship going but it’s just so unimaginative! What I did like of this look, though ‒ and want for myself! ‒ were the emerald earrings and butterfly cuff, both by de GRISOGONO!
Cecilia Cheung, an actress from Hong Kong, looked so breezy and feminine at the de GRISOGONO party in an anemone-print silk-chiffon bustier dress from Alexander McQueen S/S’12. A gold pendant necklace and an Alexander McQueen blush-pink sequin skull clutch finished off the look. I LIKE!
And Sonam was spotted outside Hotel Martinez in Cannes looking very ladylike! Nice one, girlfriend 😉
