This week Pepsi announced a major deal with the late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s estate that has given the brand permission to use his image for its new world-wide marketing campaign.
PepsiCo confirmed that the nature of promotion will be different by country, but has promised to have a television ad, special edition Pepsi cans featuring Jackson’s image, and chances to download The King of Pop’s greatest hits.
Pepsi Creative Director Brad Jakeman shared that the campaign took 10 months to develop and finalize. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the company’s ties with pop culture.
Michael Jackson originally partnered with Pepsi in 1983. In 1984, his hair caught on fire while filing for a commercial for Pepsi.
