As the super hot and humid days approach us, I am always aware of being fashionable but comfy. No one wants to be sweaty and hot if they can help it! The best way to dress for the hot weather is to focus more on accessories, in order to add personality to your outfits. Wearing soft cotton fabrics is a great way to be able to stay cool through the day. Investing in a few simple cotton pieces like t-shirts, summer dresses, white cotton pants, and skirts can be a great way to spruce up your summer closet.
Here are a few trends for the summer, as well as some wonderful pieces to buy! Enjoy the heat; don’t let it melt the fashion girl in you!
Neon
Neons can be tricky, especially for certain darker complexions. You have to be careful that it does not cross trendy and turn into tacky. One great way to use neon as a statement is not necessarily through your outfit. I would use neon on my nails!
Even a cute neon scarf can do wonders for a simple summer outfit. I tend to lean more towards neon colors that are bold yet neutral enough that it does not become tacky. It’s a thin balance, but one that can be found with conscious shopping
Cotton pieces
I absolutely love white in the summer time! It allows you to accessorize your outfit and draws the attention to your pieces as well, while leaving you feel cool. The GAP and American Apparel are great starting points for grabbing those signature pieces you can always layer on for the summer. I also find that most retail stores have started carrying more cotton and chiffon pieces this summer! Chiffon is another great cool and flattering fabric as well. Also, every fashion girl should carry a cute umbrella!
