Aishwarya-Rai Bachchan is pretty, no doubt! And the glow on her face is testament to the fact that she’s enjoying her new role of a lifetime – that of being a mother!
However, the one thing that pales in comparison is this heavily embroidered jacket worn over a chikankari saree by veteran designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Neither do the colours, nor the design or the drape to anything for Junior Mrs. B.
Aishwarya wore this outfit for the AmFAR charity party at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.
The jacket is too “busy” with too much zardozi work while the saree could well have done without the six embroidered strips on the pallu. This is clearly not one of The Boys’ better designs. One of their kallidar or gher kurtas with churidars would have been a far better option. Aishwarya needs to wear colours like ochre, fuchsia, butter-cup yellow and aquamarine to bring out the colour of her eyes and her flawless skin-tone!
By comparison, I think her other kaftan-style look by Angelo Katsapis was much better and perfect for Cannes!
I also have my doubts about her hair-do being a winner! While the up-swept look is nice, it could have done without the loose strands dangling on either side! A chic chignon would have worked best!
