My Blog, Your Life: The Mumbai TiLT

Stuart DaCosta

As you might have noticed I love Something Relevant so it’s something of a treat for me that Stuart DaCosta (who also looks great in a hat btw) agreed to write this blog. He and Akshai Sarin had a blast putting Mumbai to the Tilt and here’s what it looked like directly from ground zero! xox0
Psst! If you’d like to share Your Life on My Blog please write to info@missmalini.com.

It is almost 2 days after the Tilt Festival and I am still recovering from a massive hangover, I have tried everything, hydration exercise and even more booze. My brain is still TiLTed. A lot of the festival is a large blur to me so I am going to narrate to you what little I remember happened through a set of photos I seem to have found.

Day on at TiLT

The festival started on Friday with many^2 drinks at Busaba, spun solid to Mukul Deora’s mash up set. I am not a fan of electronic music, but when I make up my mind, there is no stopping the dance. After a heavy dose of Busaba, I staggered down to the Frog to get my fix from a much more emo sounds of Vitek & Sonaluna.

Cut to backstage interview with Arno Cost or ‘Snoopy’ (that’s what his girl kept calling him) his set was very entertaining (however, this opinion is very biased since I was already about 12-13 drinks down.)

Please note : Goans don’t get drunk. but dance very high. (I, am Goan)

DAY 2

Started off more pleasantly, with some more drinking at Busaba to the tunes of Alkesh “Phase Shift” Patel, you won’t see any pictures of me cause I was behind the cameras for most of this festival day. Got some interviews from Arjun (Jalebee Cartel) and Coma (GER).

The treat of the night was Ferry Costin, I had never heard this guy until TiLT and this dude exceeded all the hype that surrounded him.

Unfortunately the night ended a bit abruptly, at 1:30am thanks to the Mumbai Police dept.

Day 3

Nikhil Chib

I stumbled into the Busaba brunch-eon at 12:30pm to see the flea market fully set up, and both brunches Blue Frog + Busaba were in full TilT.  Unfortunately there weren’t very many male-friendly flea market items. All I got was “we have some at the shop”, or “we will have to take your measurements”.  So I didn’t end up buying anything yet. But I think the Flea Market was a smashing hit.

The Jam at Cafe Zoe didn’t end up happening only, so the only event we had planned at the Cafe went Bust. The evening was a real low for all the musicians who traveled to come to the Open Jam. We shall organize another soon.

FREE ENTRY at the Frog + Something Relevant really saved Day 3, we had a lot of people just show up from nowhere for the gig. Which was a real sigh of relief, since we finally had the numbers we wished for.

Something Relevant

Ending a smashing festival, with a performance, is probably not a good way to go, remembering lyrics when you’ve had so much to drink is always a little tricky.  But all in all I am looking forward to another TiLT festival!
