Yesterday, Team MissMalini met up with Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey and Neil Bhoopalam, who were rehearsing for a circus act they’re putting up at The Comedy Store on Friday April 27th, which is inspired by their upcoming film Fatso. Gotta say, these guys are a riot and it was super fun watching them rehearse. We even had a quick chat with them about the funniest people alive, their favourite jokes and their most embarrassing moments (Ranvir’s involves a lungi, so you know…) Wanna check out some awesome behind the scenes pix and vids?
You bet it took all the willpower in the world not to crack up at Neil’s knock-knock joke *lol* also love that his grandpa was the one who told him that, how funny! Plus I think I’m going to forever use Rajat’s answer to “what’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?” – it avoids the question while still being sort of funny; smaaart!
MissMalini: Do you picture the audience naked when you are on stage?
Rajat Kapoor: I don’t picture the audience at all. I take off my glasses when I am on stage – so that I don’t see anyone clearly. The blur that is the audience helps.
MM: Who do you think is the funniest person on earth?
RK: In my experience – it has to be Vinay Pathak– or Sanjai Mishra. Two people who can crack me up even when they are describing the simplest mundane things.
MM: Tell me your favorite joke.
RK: Too long to tell it here.
MM: Favorite comedy scene of all time from Bollywood & Hollywood
RK: Most of them are from Chaplin films – the boxing match in City Lights, the skating scene in Modern Times. Here – it will have to be random scenes from Kishore Kumar films..
MM: The most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you on set or in life?
RK: My mind seems to have erased all embarrassing things that happened to me. Can’t think of anything
It was a ball watching them rehearse as well. They decided that I (and my camera!) had to be their volunteer for one of the acts. If you wanna experience a fat Ranvir Shorey charging at you, then you gotta check this out:
And this was really only the half of it. It looks like it’s going to be a super funny show, so if you’re looking for something to do tomorrow, I highly recommend this! It’s 8pm at The Comedy Store and is immediately followed by a stand-up show featuring Tom Wrigglesworth, Alistair Barrie and Paul Thorne from the UK.
