Fans of Bob Biswas (the undercover assassin from Kahaani) can rejoice – plans are being put in place to take Bob’s character to the next level – as the lead of a television series.
Director Sujoy Ghosh is being tight-lipped about this, but does say that the idea is being worked upon. He comments that it would be difficult for Saswata Chatterjee (who played Bob Biswas) to relocate from Kolkata to Mumbai. The actor echoes this by saying he can’t uproot his wife and daughter from Kolkata, but does quickly add that he can travel between the two cities.
Chatterjee further says that he would like to take Bob Biswas further only if “the content justifies his renewal.” The problem with a TV serial, he says, is that it could take Bob’s character to a different plane entirely, possibly making him a character who goes back to his ailing mother post-killings.
Personally, I’m on the fence about this. I really like Bob Biswas as a character and would love to have him fleshed out more, but at the same time it carries the risk of the character being changed and possibly ruined. What do you think – a TV serial on the life of Bob Biswas, a good idea or bad?
