Satya Paul hosted a fine evening to celebrate womanhood at the ITC Grand Cental Hotel this week. The occasion was the unveiling of Anjanna Kuthiala’s paintings which are portraits of women achievers.
There was also a fashion show where all these spectacular ladies walked down the ramp while their friends and family cheered for them. The highlight of my evening was catching a glimpse of Imran Khan ( yay… my first time) who came with his wife Avantika Malik to unveil Anjanna’s painting of his mother-in-law Vandana Malik. The whole family including Avatika’s brother, Vedant (a really cute aspiring actor) cheered on as Vandana walked the ramp.
Imran and Avantika looked totally in love (with PDAs to reinforce their affection) as they basked in all the attention. Imran joked about how Avantika’s mom agreed with him more than his wife did and that made her extra special.
I love that he was so sweet to the media (starry airs are so last century) and even posed for like a million photos with all the lovely ladies.
I had a lovely little chat with Vandana Malik who told me how totally proud she felt when everyone referred to her as Imran’s mum in-law. And, coz it was all about art, I have to confess that my personal favorite was this painting of Saba Ali Khan (Saif and Soha Ali Khan‘s sis) who’s just so warm and sweet and elegant.
Princess Diya Kumari of Jaipur looked mesmerizing in a red and blue signature Satya Paul saree as she unveiled her painting.
Pria Kataria Puri (who was also immortalized on canvas) looked like a million bucks in a hot red saree as she spoke to me about her sense of style. I wish Imran had stayed longer though so we could feast our eyes some more on the most gorgeous guy ever.
Spotted: Dalip Tahil, Princess Diya Kumari of Jaipur, Saba Ali Khan, Sona Goyal, Poonam Sethi, Sakshee Pradhan, Chaya Momaya, Sangeeta Mehta (Assamese dancer of national repute) and Shweta Tiwari (Gauri Khan’s sister-in-law).
