A fashion show is incomplete without music, more often than not it’s the music that sets the tone for the entire collection, and brings together the clothes, the make up and the designers whole concept. I’ve been to my share of fashion shows and decided to share with you some of the most entrancing music from the runway. Almost all these songs were modified for the ramp, so my suggestion is to put on your highest heels, pump up your compy’s speakers and practice your runway strut!
Moves Like Jagger – Maroon 5 ft Christina Aguilera
We first heard this track at India Kids Fashion week and then at Narendra Kumar’s recent Lakmé Fashion Week Show, where he was the official DJ for the night. Love the upbeat quality to the song, don’t you?
Crystalised – The XX
I don’t know what it is about Delhi and The XX, but I’m not complaining. I’ve heard many of their songs used by designers who’ve showcased at Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. Could it be that I went for the Autumn/Winter season and the xx has that sort of dark cold feel that designers connect to?
On The Floor – Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull
This song I’ve so much of at soo many shows that I’ve out grown it and kind of ready to MOVE ON, can designers move on with me? Hopefully there will be other songs like this one for next fashion week. Till then you may skip this one, unless you haven’t had enough of J.Lo.
Paradise – Coldplay
(Peponi) African Style (Piano/Cello Cover) – The Piano Guys ft. Alex Boye
The remix of this song has been played at many runways and clubs, but Amruta Khatavkar found this version which we have flipped over! What do you think of it, like it hate it?
Punjab – Karunesh
This is actually a really nice song, but it’s been used to death, especially when its predominately a sari or Indian wear collection. There are so many other good Indian songs (not Bollywood tunes) that really need to be brought to the runway. Can we please bury this song 6ft under?
