Narendra Kumar always likes to do something fun on the ramp, and this time around he didn’t have singers do the music, but rather decided to be a DJ in the corner. The models who got their dance moves on, all looked like Nari look-a-likes. Not that they were clones, but rather, each look was what Nari himself loves and would wear. Adam Bedi, who like his father last season, was the show-stopper this time, but he didn’t come out at the end or in the beginning, but rather, he walked out like a true model, which is such a respectful thing for Adam to do, giving credit to the designer rather than outshine. Love it Adam!
About the Menswear
At the Nari show, colour blocking (in a sense), with separates of different colours, worn together is a huge trend of men for summer/ resort. He teamed his mustard blazer with brown pants and a green top, or a mix and match of shades of orange. It was all about being bright and happy with your colours, with his casual section.
As we shifted into a more formal tone, towards the end of the show, the men looked dapper in streamline fitted suits, all in one colour. I liked the play on mixing fabrics; with menswear, it’s all about experimenting with different types of textures of sheen. Each garment had a focus on small details, like a subtle piping or an interesting lapel. All together a great range of garments for men to choose from.
About the Womenswear
Once the show was done, everyone was talking more abut the few womenswear pieces Nari put out. It had to be the strongest section of the show, with all the pieces having a very masculine feel. The most iconic, being the jackets, especially the one pink jacket, with a high collar that turned into a lapel – a star amongst all the jackets (I wonder if he has it in my size!). The pleated tapered trousers for women are so chic and trendy, that every girl out there needs one, because they ooze style, and are naturally very comfortable.
The evening wear was similar to the mens’, where colours were darker, but the line had real oopmh. The halterneck, wide leg jumpsuit, really stood out as a night time option for all those girls who like to do sexy androgyny – it was very Katherine Hepburn. For the more feminine though, there were floor length gowns with plunging necklines and slits up to ‘there’. Really daring and ultra sultry.
