I love that MissMalini asked me to cover Twilight Trail, a memorable musical concert, that brought together some of the best artists in the country. This intiative, by the Sahachari Foundation, is essentially an endeavor to support NGOs that support causes like education, healthcare and women rights.
There was a grand pre-concert reception, hosted by Mala Goenka,Gauri Pohoomull, Parul Choksi, Neelima Kilachand and Bijal Meswani of the Sahachari Foundation.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Gauri Khan at the event. She looked rather pale though, in her signature animal print shirt with jeans, and matching animal print heels. And I can’t say for sure, but she does look like she’s gained some weight. Is Vidya Balan inspiring star wives too?
The recital was led by the superbly talented tabla maestro, Ustad Zakir Hussain, who I deeply admire. There were performances by Taufiq Qureshi, Selva Ganesh, Vijay Prakash and Ajay Joglekar, who came together in a joint creative encounter, and his passion, created magical myriad patterns of twilight bliss on stage.
The musical ensemble was a splendid amalgamation of conteporary and traditional expressions of music. I loved the jamming session with Taufiq Quereshi and Ustad Zakir Hussain, as their energy was truly remarkable, and the result was mesmerizing. The evening saw a host of distinguished individuals from various fields come out in support of the music and the cause.
At the event, NGOs like Apne Aap, Muktangan, St. Jude India Childcare Centre, Bombay Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Victoria Memorial School for the Blind received cheques from Bina Goenka, Sanjay Arora, Meenakshi Bajaj and Ashish Mehta, who support Sahachari’s vision. Ustad Zakir Hussain also handed over a cheque to Manju Vyas of the Apne Aap Womens Collective.
Spotted: Chhaya Momaya, Gauri Khan, Kajal Anand, Dr Abhijt Desai, Amrita Kilachand, Smita Parekh, Ashika Pohoomull, Sunaina Wahi, Haseena Jethmalani, Sarayu Daftary, Bina Goenka, Meenakshi Bajaj, Priya Amiri amongst others. Also present were Sanjay & Ina Arora who graciously sponsored the event.
