At a dazzling and superbly choreographed show by the charming Nisha Harale Bedi, the young students of Sophia Polytechnic College in Mumbai showed off nine fantastic collections at Tvashtar 2012 – their annual Graduation fashion show.
Each collection was was dedicated to promoting dying art forms of India and that explained the elaborate ethnic surface textures, stunning embellishments and superbly constructed accessories which were created by the wide-eyed students.
The students found inspiration from Ladakh to South India and from the Ajanta Caves to the mustard fields of Punjab. No prizes for guessing that the youngsters were high on ideas and let their creativity loose with carefree abandon.
The icing on the cake however, was the vast number of celebrities invited by Nisha Harale Bedi, who turned-up to judge the collections, present the students with awards and cheer on their efforts!
Among them were Mandira Bedi, Aditi Govitrikar, Ashmit Patel, Swapnil Shinde, Archana Kochhar, Sabina Singh, Ramona Arena, Vinod Nair, Shraddha Das, Salim Asgarally, Vinta Nanda, Vicky Idnani, Tina Bedi, Leena Mogre and Nisha Merchant.
Vistas Of Eternity, a collection inspired by Ladakh, took home the much coveted Collection Of The Year Award and deservedly so! The amount of effort put into this particular collection was mind-blowing!
With so much talent being churned out by design schools, India sure has a fantastic future in fashion to watch out for!
