In 2010, the guys at Archie Comics introduced their first gay character – Kevin Keller – to mixed reviews. The idea by artist/ writer Dan Parent, got a lot of flack from parental groups who wanted the comics to continue in the vein of the “clean, wholesome fun” they have been known for over the past many years.
However, there were obviously more bouquets than brickbats from across the world, which made the Archie Comics Group bring out stand-alone issues of Kevin Keller. And now, the popularity of the character has grown so much that they have married him off to Clay, a guy he met in the army, in the latest issue of Life With Archie (No.16).
