Ogaan, the eclectic multi-designer store at Vaswani chambers, Colaba, celebrated the ongoing holiday season with the unveiling of a funky, cutting edge new line by Kavita Bhartia (owner of the store) called The Metalwork Capsule and also, a chic, stylish resort and swimwear line by Divya Mohta. Models walked among the audience as they showcased the holiday creations and added a touch of glam to the evening.
Kavita Bhartia’s’ collection this winter signifies the turning kaleidoscope when proposing a juxtaposition of beautiful forms. It creates a unique and inspiring visual landscape. The collection uses metal, industrial embellishments on formal Indian kurtas — grey metal cones and springs, in arrangements like tribal and antique jewelry, giving an urban edge to a traditional Indian clothing. The collection also uses chapka prints that look like paint splatters, in shades of cobalt blue, hot pink, charcoal and metal grey. The collection is urban, very modern, yet with a tribal-antique aesthetic.
The pret line also uses dyes in acidic colours, and splatter prints on minimal and wearable tunics. There are reinvented, burlesque waistcoats with black embellishments and harem pants covered in matte sequins. As always, the Kavita Bhartia collection makes use of various printing techniques, dyes, embroidery and colour play, but this time the look is inspired by the metallic, chaotic yet minimal urban landscape.
Divya Mohta also unveiled her latest Resort and Swimwear collection titled Birds Of Paradise – inspired by a tropical garden filled with the most beautiful flora and foliage amongst which beautiful creatures live.
In this collection, you will find plumed bikinis, shimmering shorts, ruffled kaftans and cover-ups, tasseled sarongs and scarves, luxurious velvet beach bags and ground grazing, navel baring flowing skirts. Just perfect for the holiday season!
Guests seen shopping for the season included Nisha Jamwval, Sharmilla Khanna (both of whom who came dressed in Divya Mohta’s designs), Pallavi Jaikishan, Rashmi Uday Singh, Rasna Behl, Vinita Trivedi, Namita Saraf amongst many other friends and well-wishers who were happy to see Kavita Bhartia show-casing in Mumbai after a long gap.
Says Kavita, “It feels great to showcase my collections in Mumbai after a long gap. We had a lovely time with our friends and patrons who appreciate the coming together of various forms of textures, colour, technique and embellishments in mine and Divya Mohta’s new line. An ideal blend of cutting edge fashion with boho luxe.”
