Stepping into the Swarovski fashion showing in Mumbai last evening was like stepping in to a magical fairyland which was done up all in pink and white. I half expected Barbie to be greeting us and her younger sister, Skipper playing with the numerous balloons on stage! In stead, it was the cute little Anandita De who kept me company and took me around the room (bathed in pink light) to show me all the crystallized goodies that were on display.
This was the launch of Swarovski Spring/Summer 2012 collection and it is called, rather poetically, Swing, Sing and Shine. The collection is a tribute to vintage styling and an ode to the lights, camera and action of the entertainment world. Swarovski’s Creative Director, Nathalie Colin, uses this jewelry and accessory collection to tell the story of a multifaceted young woman as she evolves from a student to that of a starlet becoming accustomed to fame and the limelight.
As waiters served flutes of chilled pink champagne with a strawberry inside, guests were witness to a fashion showing which perfectly blended the vintage with contemporary designs as models donned versatile looks styled by renowned stylist Tanya Ghavri.
With Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin as their cute-as-a-button showstopper (in a pink flapper-girl dress), the other young fashionable ladies in the audience were Arundhati De, Nishka Lulla and Radhika Goenka.
Nishka Lulla wore a leopard-print strapless dress by Zara and fingernails which were alternately painted green and blue. Cute! Anandita also worked her fashion quotient in a frilly Valentino tutu with white lace leggings. Very 80’s Like A Virgin look, We love!
