India is taking to wine in a big way. Nowhere was this more apparent than at the Wine Society of India’s Annual Gala Wine Tasting Celebration Dinner on November 23rd. Hosted by Steven Spurrier, Chairman of The Wine Society of India and Reva K. Singh, Editor and Publisher of Sommelier India Wine Magazine, the evening featured a hand-picked selection of 60 of the best wines of 2011.
Enthusiasts packed the appropriately named Champagne Ballroom at the Novotel in Juhu to get a taste of the year’s best pours from across the globe, and were treated to an opening drink by sponsor Piper Heidsieck Champagne, a charity auction benefitting Room to Read and of course, the wine tasting. Cadbury Bournville, who seem to be on a marketing tear as of late, were also on hand to enhance the experience with offerings of their dark chocolate.
Rounding out the night, guests were encouraged to pick their favorite bottle to enjoy with a buffet dinner. Although it’s not hard to imagine a good time where flee-flowing wine is concerned, the MissMalini crew would like to give a special shout out to wine experts Craig Wedge (of importer FineWinesnMore) and Cecilia Oldne (of Sula Wines, check out her blog here!) for offering their expert guidance and making sure only the best of the best bottles showed up at our dinner table. Cheers!
