*Thank you to our lovely hosts Mr. Damien (global head for marketing, Roederer) and Mr. Aman Dhall (Owner Brindco wines India) for a glorious evening, I’m going to update this post with all the deets as soon as they come in.
It’s hard to describe the almost surreal dinner experience I had recently in Delhi thanks to Sonny & Preeti Caberwal of Sher Singh (two of my most favorite people btw!) After an awesome brand launch with Zaheer Khan and Sushma Reddy they whisked me off to an uber fancy sit down dinner at Le Cirque (The Leela, gorgeous hotel btw!) where we spent the rest of the evening relishing Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne and a delectable 5 course dinner! Did somebody say lifestyles of the rich and famous? Chalk this bubbly up on my list!
PS. If you are from Delhi, or the next time you visit make sure you drop in to The Leela and have a drink. The hotel is beautiful, the service is impeccable and with any luck you’ll run in to my peeps 🙂 xoxo
Didjya Know?
Cristal was first created in 1867 for Alexander II of Russia. As the political situation in Russia at the time of his rule was unstable, the Tsar feared assassination. He ordered that champagne bottles for his Three Emperors Dinner be made clear, so that he could see the bubbles and also to prevent hiding a bomb within them, as could happen with a typical dark green bottle. Wild!
*Veblen goods: Some types of high-status goods, such as high-end wines, designer handbags, and luxury cars are Veblen goods, in that decreasing their prices decreases people’s preference for buying them because they are no longer perceived as exclusive or high status products. Wow right? I just came across this when I was digging up dope on the bubbly and just had to share it with you!
More pix here!
Well that’s my little champagne history lesson for you… needless to say if you ever get your hands on a bottle treasure it, and then drink it, drink it with a smile 🙂
Oooh and as it happens, we ended up hotel-hopping to a bar at The Claridges (where I ran in to the lovely Anand Bhushan & Rimzim Dadu’s (who I told you customized his awesome dragonfly shirt remember?) and then Kitty Su! Ah Delhi, never a dull night 🙂 xoxo
