Actor Sharman Joshi was spotted in Bandra last evening, taking in an interesting exhibition of sculptures. Held at Le Sutra Art Gallery, this exhibition celebrated the spirit and passion for sports and the underlying theme was the “love for sports” which is Universal. Hence, it was aptly called Sportacular.
The works on display were by young and new artists with immense talent. For the record, sports and sculpture have an inseparable history. For several millennia artists have used sculpture as a medium to commemorate sports and its heroes. From clay action figures of 1500BC, depicting the first recorded team sport in history, to the idealistic statues of Olympic champions in classical Ancient Greece and to today’s sports trophies and busts, are all inspired by sport.
Also spotted at the exhibition were Rohit and Manasi Roy, Prem Chopra, actor Madhavan and his wife Sarita, film maker Sanjay Gupta, producer Ramesh Taurani, singer Vikas Bhalla and artist Jehangir Jani.
