Do you have an unhealthy obsession with vertiginous heels? Are you smitten with an all-consuming lust to own as many as your credit/debit card allows (hello overdraft, you godsend!), even though your shoe cupboard is already bursting out? Errrr, that’s me, and I’m quite sure, you you you and you, too 😀 Then, you have got to watch this documentary titled “God Save My Shoes”! Yep, you guessed it right… Entire 60 minutes dedicated to the apple of our (sartorial) eyes. A light-hearted exploration on women and their *sole* mates, it’s guaranteed to turn you into a green-eyed monster and, perhaps, goad you on to many more shoe splurges (Erm, it did to me… hurrying up on that Rose N’ Roll… off to Vivier next week!!!).
There are interviews with shoe wizards (Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Bruno Frisoni, Pierre Hardy, Walter Steiger, Vivienne Westwood and Robert Clergerie), shoe-oholics (Stacey Ferguson/Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, Dita Von Tesse, Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child, to name a few) and everyone involved in the shoe phenomenon, along with tours of the infamous Vogue shoe closet (last seen on Sex and The City during Carrie’s stint at Vogue) and Roger Vivier museum (I. Died. Heaven. Looks. Like. This.). It even has a nice little tip for those without the means to feed their shoe cravings: a race in Europe where women sprint in their high heels to compete to win prizes of, you guessed it, vouchers for shoes! God bless Julie Benasra, the maker of this documentary, for going to such lengths to justify our shoe addiction.
Whet your appetite some more with these little gems… 😉
