You know that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you’ve discovered a great new place to shop? Well, that was me after the launch of the new Patine Collection at the S Fashion Studio in Mumbai.
Haseena Jethmalani and Leetu Shivdasani who’ve successfully hosted several trunk shows with Shon Randhawa and Geeti Mehra of Patine decided that it was the perfect time for Patine to have a permanent address in the city.
The Patine brand which is the brainchild of Geeti Mehra and Shon Radhawa (who’s the designer) was particularly intriguing for me because it’s basically based on the idea of reviving Indian traditional crafts like Parsi Gara, Chikankari and Zardozi gold embellished embroideries.
The idea is to present these heritage embroideries in a contemporary spirit to the modern discerning woman who would appreciate this stuff. I was completely mesmerized by the mélange of colors and the intricacy of the designs.
The passion that Shon has shown in creating one of a kind ensembles that have helped in infusing new life into some very traditional techniques which are dying out in our country is commendable.
The beauty of these creations lies in the innovation that Patine has employed in stitching, thread work, the modern materials and color palette while retaining the classic look.
I love how each piece is so timeless with a luxurious use of crepe-de-chine, chiffon, and silk georgette and can be passed on to the next generation with pride.
The afternoon brunch hosted by Haseena and Leetu saw several distinguished women browsing through the elegant collection of sarees, Kurtas and Kimonos.
I particularly love the Kurtas with Chikan work. Totally take me back to my Lucknow days. I want.
The brunch had a wonderful mix of button sandwiches, petit fours and sinful chocolates. They even had asparagus mousse shots which I thought was so cool (and perfect for the hot October afternoon) With the festive season around the corner, I can’t wait to pick up some of their eclectic and timeless pieces.
